AB OBJECTIVE: To determine whether AIDS awareness campaigns have had any
effect. METHODS: AIDS awareness campaigns started in the central part of
Uganda where immorality has been reported to be high. A testing centre
was established and a central laboratory was identified. ELISA tests
were carried out on all the samples from 1990 when the campaigns were
launched, to date. RESULTS: TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME.
DISCUSSIONS AND CONCLUSIONS: The spread of HIV is mostly due to
ignorance. As people become more and more aware of the spread, lesser
and lesser people will get infected thus the spread checked.
